Allegany Museum’s beautiful wood-paneled Courtroom was dedicated as the Arthur & Bernice Friedland Grand Courtroom on Sunday, October 13, 2019.
A crowd composed of people whose lives had been touched by the Friedlands gathered in the room to hear Bernice speak about her love for the Museum, which she has served as volunteer docent and board member.
Mrs. Friedland praised the work of the Museum and said that she always feels a sense of peace and quietude in the large and beautiful courtroom.
The Friedland family made a generous donation to Allegany Museum to support all its work, including the maintenance and use of the court room, to commemorate Bernice’s service and Mr. Arthur Friedland’s contributions to the local community.
In the editorial for Oct 17, 2019, The Cumberland Times News honored the Museum and the Friedlands, whom it called “pillars of community.”
Allegany Museum is at 3 Pershing Street, Cumberland, MD 21502. You can visit us at www.alleganmymuseum.org. The Museum is open Tuesdays through Saturdays 10 -4, and Sundays 1-4. Entrance is free, and donations are heartily welcomed!
